What is the equation of the graphed line? A. B. C. D.
\(y = mx + b\) This is the equation of a line that has slope m and goes through point (0, b). In your case, the line goes through (0, 0), so b = 0. That means the equation is of the form \(y = mx\)
Now we need to find the slope. Find two points that are easy to read. That means, find two points that the line goes through that are where the grid lines intersect.
I see, for example, (0, 0) and (2, 5). Now find the slope between those two points. Subtract the y-coordinates: 5 - 0 = 5 Subtract the x-coordinates: 2 - 0 = 2 Now divide the difference in y by the differencce in x: m = diff in y/diff in x = 5/2
Now that we have the slope is 5/2, we can add that info to our equation above: \(y = \dfrac{5}{2}x\)
