Describe the transformation that changes the triangle on the left to the one on the right. A.rotation B.Translation C.reflection D.none of the above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

That is definitely a reflection.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dtan5457 Please don't give out direct answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pokearall A reflection is when you flip a shape over the x or y axis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(-x) = f(x), reflection about the y axis

OpenStudy (igreen):

@dtan5457 @billj5 Please don't give answers, we're here to guide the asker to the solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen I agree I didn't feel mine was a direct answer

OpenStudy (igreen):

You gave the answer. You're not supposed to do that..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well I added to the direct answer given previously by saying f(x) = f(-x) @iGreen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not like i gave the answer initially but since it was given i added to it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pick a point on one of the triangles lets look at the vertex C on the triangle on the right, its coordinates are (3,1), so its x value is 3, and its y value is 1. now negate that x value giving you -3. find the y value at x = -3, that would be 1, so that is the point (-3,1), which happens to be the vertex C' on the other triangle, you can do this with other points and vertices on the triangle and the same thing will happen, so you can see f(x) = f(-x) for any x value you pick on one triangle its negation will give you the same y value on the other triangle and will correspond the reflected point

OpenStudy (igreen):

You're still not supposed to do that. @billj5 You can't give the answer AT ALL.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

I am aware of my direct answer, had to leave to school before I could even explain. My bad.
