The following is a quote from George Washington. What does it mean? "One of the expedients of party to acquire influence within particular districts is to misrepresent the opinions and aims of other districts."
a. Political parties gain power by exaggerating or misstating the aims of their opponents.

Sounds like you lie about your political opponents in order to gain power. for instance, politicians might say, "He doesn't care about jobs, he just wants to raise taxes," even if this is not true.

well, B says you must GAIN INFLUENCE IN OTHER DISTRICTS. Washington says to "misrepresent the opinions of other districts" which sounds like A.
