What is the surface area of the box if it is scaled up by a factor of 10? The surface area is: 272 in 2 Length: 12 in 2 Width: 8 in 2 Height: 2 1/2 in 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Michele_Laino Can you please help me? (Show your work also thx :D )

@MDoodler

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I think that the area is 282, not 272, please check my value. Furthermore, every dimension is scaled up by the same factor, namely 10, then your area is scaled up by a factor 10*10 namely 100. so your area is?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

oops I think your area is 292, not 272, please check that value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then its 100 x 292?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

that's right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then 29,200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And this: What is the volume of the box if it is scaled down by a factor of 1/10? I know the volume is 240 in 2

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

If the volume is scaled by a factor 1/10, then your new volume is: 240/10=...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

that's right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much! :)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

Thank you!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you even find the surface area? @Michele_Laino
