A scale on a map shows that 2 inches = 25 miles. Part A How many inches on the map represent 60 miles? Part B How many miles are represented by 1/4 in on the map?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@haleyelizabeth2017

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

Okay so we can do \[\frac{ 2 }{ 25 }=\frac{x}{60}\] just cross multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have to make the denominators the same right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but part b how would i find it if its 2=25 but i have to find it for 1/4? @haleyelizabeth2017

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

Do the same except with 1/4 as the numerator and x as a denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 2/25= 1/4 over x?

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

So B is about 3.125

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thanks!
