Is the function linear or nonlinear? x −2 0 1 3 4 y 4 8 10 14 16 A. linear B. nonlinear

OpenStudy (some.random.cool.kid):

Well, what does linear mean to you?

OpenStudy (aaliyahfairgood):

linear is when the point lies on the line noncolinear is when the point does not lie on the line

OpenStudy (eyust707):

if x changes by 1 (if x goes from 0 to 1) y changes by 2 (from 8 to 10)

OpenStudy (eyust707):

Look at some of the other numbers: if x changes by 2 y changes by 4

OpenStudy (eyust707):

If a function is linear it has a constant slope. That means if we change x say by 1 y will always change by the same amount. If we change x by 2 y will always change by the same amount(2 times what it changed for 1).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see

OpenStudy (eyust707):

Nope its A. because the slope is constant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got a question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How can i tell if a function is increasing or decreasing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nvm i got it ty
