depends on the sentence it can mean Hace varios anos-some years ago (in here it means ago or El hace la cena-he is making dinner (in here is from the verb do) in my opinion is the first one but like I said it depends

Hace is used when you are trying to describe an action, or a feeling. Like saying Hace calor "it is hot" get it?

yeah it has many meanings and that hace that she mentioned is from the verb do so is really up to you to decide which one your teacher would agree with :) and np :)
