It obviously depends on age/level of scariness, but overall I'd say heck yeah. I know that I used to read scary stories a lot and I'd say that I'm better for it.

When letting kids hear scary stories it always depends on the age of the child, the subject you are going to talk about to get someone scared/ and the type of person to talk to someone for someone to be scared about. Suggestion: Do not make it too much, can suffer from many things, unless a joke can work out, never anything real should be considered as an joke

Scary stories I think is good for children considering the ones from Edgar Allan Poe. Due to the level of vocabulary it will allow children to develop a higher level mindset which will allow the child to interpret readings with ease compared to those who do not read scary stories.

Well to me it all depends on the child's personality. Because if the kid scares easy obviously not but some kids take these stories like nothing

well it depends on the age of the child and the type of story u think is scary but in some cases i do think it is a good idea to tell them stories like say if u tell them not to do something and they do it any way u make up a story about a kid who did something they werent suppose to do and they got eaten or something scary stories teach them lessons

I believe that children under the age of 12 should not because they are not mature enough to understand the different's. also children under the age of twelve can have night mares which will make them sleep walk and also would be scared to go to certain parts of there house hope this is helpful.

actually kids listen to modified scary stories all the time. they are called fairytales. If you wanna tell a child a scary story tell them the original Cinderella, or Hansel and Gretel, or snow white. http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~spok/grimmtmp/
