Classify the system of equations and identify the number of solutions. 5x + y = 2 2y = 4 − 10x consistent, independent; one consistent, dependent; infinite consistent, dependent; one inconsistent; none

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve it and see what you get

OpenStudy (igreen):

Here's the graph of the system: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/hyr2dtszer

OpenStudy (igreen):

This will tell you the classification: http://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/images/system-linear-types.gif

OpenStudy (igreen):

So what do you think the answer is? @hyesukm52

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummm i got the same answer for both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be this?? inconsistent; none

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

No, actually if it were inconsistent, the lines would be parallel and there would be no solutions, but here the two lines are the same.

OpenStudy (igreen):

So what do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhh wait consistent, dependent; infinite???

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, you got it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you sooo much :D
