I'm guessing that the length of BD is 4cm So with our new triangle, the Adjacent will be 64 - 4 or 60.

If an altitude is drawn to the hypotenuse of a right triangle, then it is the geometric mean between the segments on the hypotenuse. That means this: 64/x = x/4 where x = AB
