yes   1/2 base * height
well... keep in mind that 
the prism is just 5 shapes stacked up to each other at the corners

2 triangles, and 3 rectangles
so to the the Total Area, of the prism
you find the area of those 2 triangles and the 3 rectangles and sum them up

notice your triangles, and your rectangles

and the left-hand-side rectangle, which is a 4*8
