basically europeans at the time (arguably all the time) are interested in more land thats reason 1, reasons 2 and 3 are those that come with having the land you get such things as slaves (not abolished at the time)spices, silk, exotic things

and asia was a plethora (big word) of exciting delicacies and animals and stuff
the same can be said for india it doesnt matter if the intent is domination, megalomania, retaliation, conquest etc etc there are 999 good things (and 99 bad) that come from overtaking new / previously occupied land
