Definition of present perfect: of, relating to, or constituting a verb tense that is formed in English with have and that expresses action or state completed at the time of speaking
It is obviously not future tense as the sentence uses the words had, and just meaning it is in the past. This immediately eliminates A, and going by the definition I believe the answer is D
