Your network would just need a router/firewall unit like a Linksys and maybe some ethernet cables to be set up.

You'd need to have an ISP bring some kind of connection into your space which would probably end with a modem. An ethernet cable would run between the modem and your router.

Routers and modems usually can do the network configuration automatically. The modem should be powered up and boot first, then the router and after it stabilizes, the computers and stuff can be started.
