3/2-7/10 What is the difference? PLEASE HELP I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING I KNOW TO DO!

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

What have you tried so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have tried adding them, subtracting them, finding the LCD. ;( @cakemeister

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

okay. well, what is the LCD?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10? right?

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Right! But the question is, how do you make a 2 turn into a 10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply by 5

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

so it would be 15/10. Can you subtract 15/10- 7/10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but it would be 0.8

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Do you need it as a decimal or fraction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 8/10?

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

right, but it can be reduced. What can go evenly into both 8 and 10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4/5?

OpenStudy (cakemeister):

Correct!! You've got it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):
