. What is the argument of the complex number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

z=-3e^(ipi/6)

OpenStudy (zarkon):

have you reviewed the definition of the argument?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is the angle. but I'm not sure how to handle the negative sign.

OpenStudy (zarkon):

\[\Huge-3e^{i\frac{\pi}{6}}=3e^{i\left(\frac{\pi}{6}+\pi\right)}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, this was my attempt, just like you described. so pi+pi/6 js correct

OpenStudy (zarkon):

you want the Arg(z) or arg(z)?

OpenStudy (zarkon):

\[Arg(z)=\frac{7\pi}{6}\] \[arg(z)=\frac{7\pi}{6}+2\pi k~~~~~~~~~~\text{ where }k\text{ is an integer}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7pi/6 I believe. These complex numbers are confusing :(
