@boricua5 I'm not sure what to tell you. The answers are awful, but I believe you are correct. Viruses do not "grow". They highjack cells to cause these cells to produce viruses.

Usually it is pointed out they have no metabolic processes and are fundamentally incapable of reproducing on their own. Some lifeforms cannot reproduce on their own, but that is all through the loss of this feature, and this was found in ancestors.
