For questions 4-5 what is the graph of each function rule ? 4. y=|x|-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Directrix (directrix):

y=|x|-1 If x = 0, then y = -1 and the point with coordinates (0,-1) must be on the graph. --> Look through the options and throw out those graphs that do not pass through (0,-1). y=|x|-1 will open upward. --> Throw out the options that open downward What is left?

Directrix (directrix):

@iloveyou123456789 Does the first option pass through (0,-1)? Does the graph open upward?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah ?

Directrix (directrix):

No because it does not pass through the point ( 0 , -1) Try option 2 and post what you think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Option 2 dont either

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

Correct. It opens downward. So, it's out. What about option C?

Directrix (directrix):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont think that one does either.

Directrix (directrix):

Correct. It opens downward. What about option D ? Does it open upward and also pass through (0, -1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

Directrix (directrix):

I agree. So, option D is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Will you help me with one more please ?
