Hey Chinese learners -- If you're looking for a chance to see authentic Chinese dialogue, there are several ways to watch Chinese/Taiwanese TV shows online. On YouTube you can find shows like "步步惊心/步步惊情" and "爱情公寓四" with English subtitles. The wonderful thing about China: for some reason, TV viewers prefer to have the dialogue captioned at the bottom of the screen, so alongside the English subtitles are always the Chinese characters, which gives you a way to compare the placement and function of words. Viki is a streaming site that offers Chinese shows with English subs, too.
im currently watching this Taiwanese drama called just you. im starting to really learn from it
谢谢!Although I am not learning Thai, but Mandarin. Are any of those shows possible Mandarin? I am finishing up my 3rd year.
@foreverwithwu "Just You" (就是要你爱上我) is one of my favorites :)
@UsaChan<3 I just wanna point out -- in Taiwan they don't speak Thai, in Thailand they speak Thai. In Taiwan they speak Taiwanese at home and then Mandarin Chinese in public (after China took over). So, learning Mandarin, you can also watch Taiwanese shows too. :) In Taiwan, however, they use traditional characters rather than simplified (which is used in mainland China) so while the writing systems are slightly different, you'll understand what they say, and you can always choose the option to learn both simplified and traditional characters.
@UsaChan<3 So, yes, you could go on Viki and find any China or Taiwan TV shows. :)
Oh, right! Thanks, I read it wrong XD
@aishwanuwang i love it, its so entertaining. im gonna watch another one with aaron yan. its called fall in love with me
@foreverwithwu "Say That You Love Me" (available with EngSubs on Viki.com) is also really adorable. It was the first Chinese-language drama I really started binge-watching despite my big pile of homework waiting for me. ;)
hey again. Is Chinese read from right to left or left to right?
@RabbiMordcha Modern Chinese is written left-to-right like English. On street signs you may see vertical writing, but that's only as a result of a space or style issue. :)
