I need help on this question. How are base units and derived units related?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Based units are from fundamental quantities: length, time, mass etc. Derived units are the results of equations. For example velocity is measured in m/s which is a derived unit. velocity=distance/time=meters/second. Hence you could say that derived units are basically the relationship of various base units.
