The Museum Man CHARACTERS: MR. OBSCURE HELENA ANDREY NIKOLA PELAGYA GUESTS SERVANTS Stage Set: The set remains the same throughout the play. It is the living room in an old house somewhere in Eastern Europe. An old and tattered couch lies next to a shiny black piano in the center of the room. A coat rack, a hat rack, and a shoe rack are seen behind the couch. Hats of many kinds are hung from the wooden hat rack. There are many hats with feathers, bows, and laces. The coat rack and the shoe rack are empty. Very big and deep wooden shelves are lined up against the three walls of the room. The shelves are of odd shapes and sizes. The shelves are filled with musical instruments of all different kinds. An old gramophone record is playing in the background. The stage-light shines on each unit of the shelving to display the musical instrument it stores. Then, the light rests on a very big portrait lying against the old sofa. The portrait, which seems to have fallen on the floor from the wall, shows an old man with a very long and thin beard. He looks very important.
