A gerund is a NOUN made by adding the suffix -ing
then it leaves C. & D.

Well, not exactly. If you look at C. (Dreaming) it is used as a verb. It's a very tricky one but it's flying. Flying is being used as a direct object in the prepositional phrase, "of flying" so it is a noun
