Which word in the sentence is a gerund? Dreaming of flying, I lay there on the soft grass.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. flying B. grass C. dreaming D. lay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A gerund is a NOUN made by adding the suffix -ing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then it leaves C. & D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, not exactly. If you look at C. (Dreaming) it is used as a verb. It's a very tricky one but it's flying. Flying is being used as a direct object in the prepositional phrase, "of flying" so it is a noun

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hm... I want to say A. What do you think @IAmInABand420?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are correct, obviously lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha, I didnt see your post until I posted mine lol. Sorry!
