OpenStudy (somy):

I think im gonna write 'googleisyourfriend.com' to all questions from now on i don't get why posting a question for an answer when you can get the answer from google? they clearly don't want to take time and put effort and only then post a question where they have doubt regarding the topic and HAVE AN IDEA ABOUT IT AT LEAST ...........

OpenStudy (somy):

also the policy of not giving direct answers is so not working hhh they still give direct answers and these brats =_= are also pretty rude

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

@Somy I totally agree. But I've seen some big changes since I became an Ambassador. Users stopped giving direct answers(just for a while) and then it became a big issue again. But if it keeps bothering you just report, and the moderators will take care of it themselves.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ Agreed

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah well kidz these days.... im referring to the cheating ones hhh

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

There's kids everywhere. That will follow you, stalk you, cheat and etc. But still. Just report and I'm sure the moderators will handle it:)

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah doin that *sigh*

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Well, doing that could be spam And some students are really looking for a tutor when it seems like they aren't =)

Nnesha (nnesha):

report....? oh well after warnings and suspensions they doing same thing :(

OpenStudy (somy):

i can see who whats to learn and who doesnt T_T coz i ask questions and make it stepwise and long if they go along and participate - they want to learn/understand if not then obviously they want answer as soon as possible =_=

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yes - that's a good procedure Sorny

OpenStudy (somy):

thnx :3

Miracrown (miracrown):

I have become ''disillusioned'' by the whole idea of OS. Most of the people I find here aren't actually interested in learning anything. They just want answers for homework and tests. Not everyone, but most.

Directrix (directrix):

@Somy @Miracrown From @shandelman , @cshalvey , and others two years ago, an interesting discussion on the same topic. ----------------------- "On one hand, I can see how this site can be useful for people who truly want to learn, but unfortunately, the vast majority of people are abusing the site. Take a look at the Mathematics forum which has thousands of questions posted per day. The questions are posted verbatim, with no attempt to try the problem beforehand. These students are not interested in learning the material, they are interested in getting the answer to a specific question and moving on." Miracrown (miracrown):

@Directrix - Thanks for referring us to that link, very interesting discussion indeed.

OpenStudy (greencat):

http://giyf.com shorter

Nnesha (nnesha):

lol ^^true story :P`

OpenStudy (kainui):

There's our path and their path. We get to slap them out of their path into ours, even if it takes some effort to give 'em a few punches. It's kind of exhausting sometimes being on this site, I feel ya, but on the other hand I know I have made an impact on some people's lives. I almost flunked out of highschool and college, and I can honestly say it's because I believed I wasn't good enough to do what I wanted to do. Somehow I was able to figure out I was wrong on my own, but it took me a long time, a lot of time I won't get back actually. I got a C in a regular algebra class about 4 years ago in university and failed both chemistry and precalculus in highschool and I failed geometry in 8th grade. I think if you could talk to everybody you would realize they enjoy learning, they just are conditioned to associate learning with this system of making good grades which completely ruins it. I think the older people get, the harder it is to reverse this kind of mentality. So don't get too exhausted about it, it's not these kids' fault they're like this.

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah well that too is true :P real life example are my own brothers -_-

Nnesha (nnesha):

but not all peoplez are same in somehow they can realize that in the future ...............

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah that would be good if they realize it on time :3

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

I agree that most people just want answers but we certainly should not give up on the site.

OpenStudy (greencat):

For some reason, I thought @sammixboo asked this question and oh! she is thomaster now!

OpenStudy (greencat):

She is Sammasterboo

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

One of the things Preetha likes to say is that this is a teaching moment. Those abuses are times where anyone can try to nudge the abusive user towards better use of the site and proper learning.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

lol @GreenCat that link though. lol you should definitely give them this link @Somy http://giyf.com

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

GreenCat posted it earlier :P

OpenStudy (somy):

@TheSmartOne I know right lol dont see other way out anymore

OpenStudy (greencat):

Uh, I just put the same website that Somy put. @TheSmartOne

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

lol

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Oh googleisyourfriend.com becomes giyf.com lol
