Please help !!!!!!! question in comments !!!!
it says what percent of 50 year olds belong to group A. so we are only looking in the 50 year old column. of these 50 year olds, what percentage is in group A
you literally just rephrased what it says ..
Percentage come to describe apart of a whole. If I get the question right, they want to know how many out of all the 50 years old men people are belong to group A. We know how many 50 years old people are there in total and we know how many of them are in group A, so now take the ratio and multiply by 100 to get the percentage: $$\frac{\text{50_years_old_in_group_A}}{\text{50_years_old_in_total}}\cdot 100 = \text{percentage}$$
I get 1.75
what is the total of 50 year olds ?
56
what is the total of 50 year olds who are in group A
32
ok, now plug in 50_ year_old_in_group A / total_50_year_olds = 32/ 56
the last step is to multiply by 100
You got 1.75 because you accidentally did the 56/32 instead of 32/56. you also didn't multiply by 100 afterwards =]
oops sorry , thanks !
.. now I'm getting 57.14285714285714 :/
Ok, seems good. Now just round to nearest whole percent. is it closer to 57 or 58?
58 ?
Sorry back. 57.1... is closer to 57 than 58
