The system of equations is inconsistent. What are the missing values? 53 EllieConquers The system of equations is inconsistent. What are the missing values? y = 2/3x + 3 y = ( )/( )x + 5 help please.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Inconsistent means that the lines are parallel. Therefore, to complete your question..just make the missing value have the same slope.

Directrix (directrix):

First, consider what inconsistent means with regard to the system of equations.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea ik what it means but idk how to do it with fractions?

Directrix (directrix):

Parallel lines have the same slope.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

It doesn't matter if it's in a fraction. The slope (2/3) was in the first equation. The 2nd one must match that. Slope in 2nd line is...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 2/3?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Yep. It's not a trick question, lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but one equals 3 and one equals 5 @dtan5457 ?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

It doesn't matter what the y intercept is. If the y intercept was the SAME, they will have INFINITE solutions, which wouldn't be inconsistent. You actually need them to be different in terms of the y intercept, but the slope must be the same.

could u help with one more? @dtan5457
