OpenStudy (sugarmochi):

it said to factorise the following perfect square expressions

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

if the product of 2, the square root of the first term x, and the square root of the third term2 is equal to the second term 4x, the expression is a perfect square trinomial 2*x*2=4x

OpenStudy (sugarmochi):

I dont really get what they mean to 'factorise'

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

you mean factorize thats another way to say factor

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

which number when multiplied by itself is 4 and when added by itself is 4?

OpenStudy (sugarmochi):

2

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

exactly so we can factor it in the form of (x+__)(x+__) where in the blank goes the 2

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

to solve the perfect square trinomial, add the square root of the first term x and the square root of the third term 2, then square the sum and get (x+2)^2

OpenStudy (sugarmochi):

ahh i get it now thankyou

jagr2713 (jagr2713):
