Helpful steps please, An airplane travels at 165 km/g fir 1 hr in a direction of 312 degrees from greenville. At the end of this time, how far west of greenville is the airplane? ( I tried it so far and got 123km is this correct?)

OpenStudy (perl):

can you draw out a diagram

OpenStudy (tylerd):

312 degrees is in A q4 so it's going south east

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

I think 123 km is correct but I am not sure.

OpenStudy (tylerd):

I'm on here via tablet and it's not letting me draw....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unfortunately my smartphone wont let me draw on it but I did not draw it out I just calculated it.

OpenStudy (tylerd):

42 degrees east of South with a vector equal to 165. 165sin (42 ) TIMES -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is it east if they are asking how far west the plane is?

OpenStudy (tylerd):

It's displacement is negative I guess

OpenStudy (tylerd):

Hence the times -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

At the end of this time, how far west of greenville is the airplane? so it would be 110km?

OpenStudy (tylerd):

It would be negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answers that are displayed are. a) 222km b)123 km c)110 km d)149 km there are no negative options

OpenStudy (tylerd):

U could say 110 but whoever wrote the problem is wrong

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

I think the degree here refers to the bearing. That is, 0 degree = north, 90 degree = east, 180 degree = south and 270 degree =west.
