I don't know if you still needed an answer, but I believe it originated from ancient Mesopotamia/Egypt.
Geometry did influence other regions, as people were curious about shapes/volume/area ect. Piero della Francesca was known for his love of geometry and art, and often tried to link the two. (:

The first formal geometry was created by Euclid. Euclid is considered the father of modern geometry, so I would say modern geometry originated in Greece. This is not to say there were not other forms of this kind of math in history, however.
