Do icons serve as representations of God or do they represent the worship and faith of Christians (in regards to the Christian use of icons)?

Well, that's a very interesting question but from what I understand they are used as a sort of reminder of God. They're often used to send christians into prayer and contemplation.

I think they're used to represent worship for the most part. When people see a cross on a necklace they think more the worship and less about the God
