Are those vectors, as in r = <1, 4 > - 5*<1 , 1>
nope I think its (-4,1)
A constant times a vector, results in a vector. 5*<1,1> = <5,5>

\[resultant = <1,4> + <-5,-5> = <-4,-1>\]
