OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

is there suppose to be 2parenthesis in the beginning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

well first we raise -1 to the power of 2 to get 1 (1-3)^2-4*-4 what do we do next?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no clue

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

do you know what PEMDAS is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but i dont know how to apply it

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

@sorry for the wait went ask you still here @Jenns11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

so PEMDAS parenthesis/Exponents/Multiply/Divide/add/Subtract

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

so we have a parenthesis so what do we do inside the parenthesis

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

subtract 3 from 1 to get -2 (-2)^2-4*-4 then we raise -2 to the power of 2 to get 4 4-4*-4 then we multiply -4 by -4 to get 16 4+16 and what do we do next

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

we just add 4+16=20 so 20 is the answer
