how do i run a sample survey?

there are lots of ways

a sample means that you survey a small part of the population.

random sample: means you select people at random

systematic sample you select people using a rule... such as every 10th person who walks through the door.

stratified sample take a proportion of the population from each group or strata

e.g. a school population, students in year 7, 8, 9 and year 10

if you wanted 50 people then its 50 x year 7/total school population...

this way you get a sample that is proportion to the size of the year group in the school.
