find the x- and y- intercepts of -2x+4y=8

OpenStudy (radar):

You have an equation of a straight line. To find the x and y intercepts, you first must know what an intercept is. For a y "0" intercept it is the point at y when x = 0. You would substitute 0 for x and solve for y. In this case, -2x + 4y = 8, plug in 0 for x getting this: -2(0) + 4y = 8 or solving for y getting y=2 Do this for the x 0 intercept by letting y=0 and solve for x.
