OpenStudy (adamaero):

MEDAL To maximize profit, when should the store be opened (what hours) and when should it be closed? Grocery sales 6-7am $40 7-8 80 8-9 120 9-12 400 12-3pm 600 3-4 200 4-5 60 5-6 120 12-1 40 The cost of groceries sold averages 70% of sales. It costs $22/hr to keep the store open.

OpenStudy (adamaero):

I tried multiplying the $40 by .7 but that is within making a profit...so it should just keep the same hours?

OpenStudy (agl202):

yum yum!!!

OpenStudy (agl202):

Sorry, not sure abt this question! : (

OpenStudy (loser66):

Can't help. Sorry. I don't understand the question. hihihihi :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will attempt to help you. So what exactly do you want to know

OpenStudy (adamaero):

What hours it is more profitable to keep the store open? So $22 is a negative value; and the sales for each time period are positive values.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to find 70% of 22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To do that you need to multiply

OpenStudy (adamaero):

Why? I don't see the connection

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to use the numbers to create a proportion of your own and make your own connection

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No i'm not guess I have a little experience with these problems. I have got them wrong before so now I know how to do them because I have gotten help

OpenStudy (adamaero):

I've done up to Calculus II. I know how to do simple multiplication. .7*22 = 15.4

OpenStudy (adamaero):

I just don't get why we're doing that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think 15.4 would be your answer but you might want to double check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did that help a little

OpenStudy (adamaero):

What?! A simple number is not the answer! What HOURS it is more profitable to keep the store open?

OpenStudy (adamaero):

Never mind, I will repost the question. This is not whatever kind of question you're thinking it is. Thanks, but no thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok sorry I was no help
