What is the width of a rectangle whith length of 14cm and area of 161cm squared

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Area = length * width 161 = 14 * width Is that enough help?

OpenStudy (mikeymaximum):

I think that the width is 2.875

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

If the width is 2.875 then the area is 2.875 * 14 or 40.25 That can't be right

OpenStudy (mikeymaximum):

Because when u double that u'll get 5.75 When u double 14 u'll get 28 28*5.75=161

OpenStudy (mikeymaximum):

11.5 then

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

You don't double the width and lenth to get area. You are thinking of perimeter

OpenStudy (mikeymaximum):

check my answer plz @wolf1728

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Yes answer is 11.5 :-)

OpenStudy (mikeymaximum):

OpenStudy (wolf1728):
