So Gerunds end in ing; therefore, dancing is the gerund. Was is a linking verb which means that it links activity to dancing. So activity and dancing are one and the same thing. Dancing was my favorite activity means the same things as My favorite activity  was dancing. Remember at the party is just a prepositional phrase modifying activity. So A. would be the correct answer!
