Fans & Medals!! Which function has the greatest rate of change? A. 6x – 7y = 21 B. y = 2x – 2 C. x y 2 7 3 13 4 19 D. http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1523000_1523500/1523241/1/0e13f22fd8434ba8776b9a5e59dab888deeef694/MS_IMC-1400831-161106.jpg

OpenStudy (dan815):

find their slopes

Directrix (directrix):

@LOLAri For options A and B, write them in the form of y = mx +b where m will be the slope and b is the y intercept. In this problem, you are interested only in the slope. So, find the value of m in options A and B.

Directrix (directrix):

For option C, use the two point slope formula to get the slope.

Directrix (directrix):

On option D, find two points on the graph and use the slope formula to get just that, the slope. Then, compare all 4 slopes. The largest one belongs to the function with the greatest rate of change.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got option D

Directrix (directrix):

Let me check and see what I get.

Directrix (directrix):

I'm looking at option C as a contender but I have not checked D.

Directrix (directrix):

Did you get a slope for D?

Directrix (directrix):

The slope of option C is (7-13)/(2-3) = -6/-1 = 6.

Directrix (directrix):

On the line, I chose points (0,-1) and (-1,-4) and got a slope smaller than the one for option C. So, I am going with option C. You get to choose because it is your problem, okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ok thanks a million

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome. What did you decide as the correct option?
