I have a list of four equations. I need to find which one has no solution. They are : -4|x|=20 -3|x|=-15 3|x|=0 4|x|=4
|x| = (something) becomes x = (something) and x = - (something)
C because anything divided into 0 is incomplete
Right.
oh right it's not c
an absolute value cannot equal a negative number
good
while for C, 0 divided by a number still equals 0 which is real
Okay. I'm confused.
@iGreen. @Holly00d1248 keeps giving answers.
[s]hi[/s]
sorry, I probably phrased that weird I was saying that the answer is NOT C because a 0 divided by a number still equals 0 which is an actual number
No IM not giving anwsers im explaining
Oh. Okay.
you answer will be the one where |x| = negative number because an absolute value cannot equal a negative number
Okay. That makes sense. Thank you.
Explain without giving answers.
take a guess when you think you're right @Dlwillis and I'll help to confirm :)
Okay. Well it'd have to be -4|x|=20. right? because once you divide 20 by -4 you get -5 which would be your answer. right?
-4|x| = 20 is correct :)
Thank you. :)
I appreciate you working the problem with me. If that makes sense.
Go @sleepyhead314
of course ^_^ I'm glad I could help :D
what about A?
A is the correct Answer.
\[\left| x \right| ~is~always~positive.\] when \[\left| x \right|~multiplied ~by~-3~the~quantity~should~be~negative.\]
What do you mean?
\[-3\left| x \right|=negative~number.\]
Oh. Okay. Yeah.
-4|x|=20 |x|=-5 -3|x|=-15 |x|=5 The first one has a negative answer where the second one doesn't.
