pls heelp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pls help @pooja195

pooja195 (pooja195):

well do you know what a cross section is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my teacher never explains it, and if i ask her she just says "well u shouldve paid attention!" yet all she does is hand out the homework and play crossword puzzels all day

pooja195 (pooja195):

i personally dont like teachers like that i know how you feel ok so a cross section is a surface or shape that is or would be exposed by making a straight cut through something, especially at right angles to an axis.-google

pooja195 (pooja195):

if you cut down a middle of a cube what shape will u see?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a rectangle? since its cut down the middle its not as wide, but if u cut it down a corner you get a triangle right?

pooja195 (pooja195):

we are talking about directly down the middle it is not a triangle or a rectangle nice try :) what can it be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

another cube?

pooja195 (pooja195):

okay right but if u were to look at the surface what shape would it be??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a square

pooja195 (pooja195):

yay! well done! it is indeed a square :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

pooja195 (pooja195):

im glad u got it :) do u get it a little better now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes because if u cut it down between the numbers given, its a square! so it would be c.w

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the diagonal from 2 to 7 is longer than the length from 1 to 2 so that means we have a rectangle (not a square)

pooja195 (pooja195):

hmm i thought it would be a square =/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh yea :/ @jim_thompson5910 is right, it was a rectangle. thanks for your guys' help i appreciate it, and it does make sense because down the middle it is a square (thus being one of its faces) but diagonally its longer so its a rectangle.

pooja195 (pooja195):

right so you were correct sorry about the mistake hope your not lost lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its fine thanks again!
