I need a verbal response to it. I know what they are, I just don't know how to explain it.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Well basically the angles and sides are opposite of each other. literally.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Np :)

Directrix (directrix):

The terms opposite sides and opposite angles come up first with parallelograms. After the theorems about properties of a parallelogram are studied, then the converse of those theorems come up with a beginning of If both pairs of opposite sides of a quadrilateral are congrent (or related in some other way) then, blah, blah, blah. In loose terms, the opposite sides of parallelograms and quadrilaterals have no points in common as opposed to "adjacent sides" of a parallelogram or quadrilateral. Opposite angles of parallelograms and quadrilaterals have no sides in common, once again, as opposed to "adjacent angles" of a parallelogram or quadrilateral.
