What is the mean of the given distribution, and which type of skew does it exhibit? {4.5, 3, 1, 2, 4, 3, 6, 4.5, 4, 5, 2, 1, 3, 4, 3, 2} WHAT IS THE MEAN? and WHAT TYPE OF SKEW EXHIBITS? negative, positive, symmetric, zero etc..

OpenStudy (theopenstudyowl):

Solution" (4.5+3+1+2+4+3+6+4.5+4+5+2+1+3+4+3+2)/16=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 3.25....but im not really know wat is the type of skew..?

OpenStudy (theopenstudyowl):

ok, well if I am correct, doesn't the term skew refer to how the histogram is shaped? like which way it is going towards more..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kind of yeah

OpenStudy (theopenstudyowl):

do u know how to make a histogram using a ti calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not never done it

OpenStudy (theopenstudyowl):

ok, one second, let me refresh myself..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's how I survived in my statistics class: Mode = Median = Mean -> NO skew /symmetrical Mode < Median < Mean -> Skew to the right (positive skew) Mode > Median > Mean -> Skew to the left (negative skew) Hope this helps!
