ok so lets first understand what that means

so if i show you 5 = 5, that is an equation, an equation has a left side (left of the equals sign) and right side (right of the equals sign), it says that the left side is equal to the right side,
so if i show you 5 = 5, is that equation true?

ok perfect, i think you know now what it means for an equation to be true, so the left side must equal the right side

ok so first you will want to make the left side of the equation look like the right side, are you comfortable with that?

you basically have to simplify the left hand side
