It already is covered twice. One, there is the impersonating clause in the TaC, which is very direct and clear. Two, it is also covered indirectly in the CoC under being inappropriate and in the being respectful to moderators.

Also, the CoC specifically states, "Moderators are the users whose names are in purple." Nowhere does it say that the border around the picture means anything. In fact, this name marker is so important that it is done in a way that does not break in the orange war.

Dunno what is different about it, just know it is. Probably has to do with the Moderator flag in the page as opposed to user flag, so it loads something basic differently.

It takes time for moderators to reach the issue.

If you don't tell the person what he's doing is wrong, he will continue doing it. And both the Asker and Answerer will be off not knowing what just happened was wrong.

Personally, I do not care about some random color, even purple, on the profile pic. If you look at the shadow zone you can see what is the real border.

As I have said before, the marking of a moderator is in the title and the name color, both of which are easy to check.

However, if someone were to say be doing a purple border and claiming to be a mod? Well, then they could get in trouble. It is the level of effort they are going to at that point to try and fool people where someone might take them seriously, as opposed to just some purple picture with no claim or making claims with no other backing, where their mask is more transparent and the truth is easy to see.

If they ever did re-implement the full colored borders it sure would make this moot.
