This one's tricky. A is the response. Plants can actually sort of feel things around them. And when the ivy touches the pole, it can feel it. That's why the ivy grows around the fence pole. It's responding to the feeling of the pole. There's a word for that. It's called "thigmotropism." B, C, and D are describing things that just happen on their own
