what does it mean to "evaluate" an arithmetic series ? Its given in sigma notation, with n=1 to 35 ...should I find the sum of first 35 terms ? another question gives a series 13,15 19,21,23 and asks to evaluate...again, should I find the SUM ??? Thanks

yeah they just want you to add up all the terms more or less

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sometimes there will be a shortcut formula but it depends on the problem

Find the sum of the first 35 terms and since it's arithmetic you would Use the formula (n(a+l)) /2.
