I watched as my beloved Daniel drove off to the horrid death hole of the war grounds. Could this really be it? I thought. We just got married to months ago and now the love of my life, my everything, is sent out to war for a most certain death.
As time went by I couldn't do anything else but think of my Daniel and if he was okay or not. Sure he sent letters, but he could have always lied a little here and there. But what got me even more into shock and misery was when he didn't write back. My heart ached for days and days at a time, me not wanting to eat or refuse to get out of bed on occasions because I had always thought he died.
Then one day when I couldn't take it any more I dolled myself up and went over to my befriends house, Celia, and demanded we have fun. Of course she tried to talk me out of it until her son , Billy, came out with a letter telling me that Daniel had left this with him and was instructed to give it to me if I ever felt this way. I still remember the letter word for word.

Ella my darling if you are reading this then the moment I have feared has come. If I haven’t written back it means that there was no way possible too, any chance I get I promise I will write you back. If you’re beginning to fall for another man because I haven’t been there for so long, please Ella hold on just a little longer and I will come back to you. I remember at that very moment how many emotions I felt, and all the adrenaline rushing through my body. And all the tears of joy I shed sitting there on Celia’s sofa. The sound of a little girl screaming caught my attention.

“Mommy! Mommy!” Arora yelled.

“Yes my love?” I asked picking up my daughter, Arora.

“Can we play in the front yard?”

“Why yes of course you can!” I said as she squirmed out of my arms.

I didn't even have to think twice about this now that we have bought such a big home and live in such a wonderful neighborhood.
After Daniel had gotten back from the war they had given us a lot of money due to his leg injury, he now has to walk on a prosthetic leg. Although he seems to have gotten used to it now that we live in such a grand home with two children, I sometimes still see him struggling with it.
Not long after Arora and Philip asked to play outside Celia, my best friend came over bearing presents for the children and meat to put on the grill.
Everything had just seemed so perfect it felt like a dream, the house, the neighbors, Celia and her son Billy coming over on the weekends for barbeques. This dream that I am living couldn't be better, and I hope for everyone out there to be able to expeirence this wonderful dream. The American dream.
