What is the relationship of triangles PQR and STU? A).The triangles are similar by SAS. B).The Triangles are both right, but they are neither similar nor congruent. c).The triangles are similar by AA.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well looking at the diagram both have right angles so then check the corresponding sides are in the same ratios which means you need to check if \[\frac{QR}{UT} = \frac{QP}{TS}\] if they are equal the triangles would be similar by SAS test hope it helps

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

since the triangles had different side lengths, they can't be congruent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@campbell_st Oh ok that helps a lot! So the right answer is right?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well what did you find out about the ratio of sides does 16/20 = 8/10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes they both equal 1.25

@campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so you have corresponding sides in the same ratio and the included angles are equal... sounds like the SAS postulate for similar triangles has just been proven.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@campbell_st Thank you so much! Is it ok if I tag you if I have more questions....lol math isn't my "strong suit"

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

sure, I'm not sure how long I'll be here
