OpenStudy (rayman5766):

The cost of a length of fabric is proportional to the number of yards purchased. The graph shows this relationship. What is the unit rate for cost per yard? http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1557000_1557500/1557382/1/94c87acbab4862507cd650e33d1ce09e601604a0/MS_IMB-1401029-190411.jpg

OpenStudy (phi):

can you tell from the graph how much 5 yds cost ?

OpenStudy (rayman5766):

18

OpenStudy (phi):

you can think about this a few ways. one way 5 yds * cost = 18 cost= 18/5 or you can use ratios: \[ \frac{18 \ dollars}{5 \ yds}= \frac{x \ dollars}{1 \ yd} \] and solve for x, (which is not hard. x= 18/5)

OpenStudy (phi):

in other words, the cost per 1 yd is 18 divided by 5
