Question is in the box, I appreciate any help I get. Thanks in advance!
@bohotness
I can help! Here, let me have a sec...
So the first one, 2x + 8 > 6. Subtract 8 from both sides. What is 6 - 8?
-2
Ok lets do the first question and then you do the rest! :) \[2x+8>6\] so solve for x first, and if you have a \[>~ or ~<\] you will have a empty dot, if you have \[\le ~or ~ \ge\] then you will have a black dot and of course these signs show the direction, so solving for the problem, 2x>6-8 => 2x > -2, dividing 2 on both sides, x>-1 so we'll have something like this |dw:1423275496909:dw|
since x>-1 meaning greater than -1
Good. Now divide by 2. What is -2 divided by 2?
-1
All you need to do for each problem is solve for x. Then make the graph point in the direction the > sign is pointing. If the sign is ' Or equal go's then it will be a filled in dot. If not, then it is just a circle.
Don't forget that when you divide by a negative on both sides, flip the sign around.
Okay, that makes sense, thanks both of you!
No problem. :)
I got a 100!!!
Good job!! :D
Congrats :)
I want to add to @DuckDynastyfan923 on when you divide by a negative on both sides, the sign flips, this also works with `multiplication`
Multiplying by a negative number on both sides, the sign flips as well
Yes, that is true, but I was only seeing that he/she would only have dividing a negative. :)
