Why is the process of copying DNA called semiconservative replication? A- Each strand is a mixture of old and new nucleotides. B- One strand runs from 5’ to 3’ and the other runs from 3’ to 5’. C- The two new DNA molecules are formed from one old strand and one new strand of DNA. D- The process happens very slowly to conserve energy.

I would say C....Semiconservative replication would produce two copies that each contained one of the original strands and one new strand.
